Nope Title Sequence
An alternative title sequence for Jordan Peele's Nope, a sci-fi horror film about humanity's urge to capture, control and profit from the unknown.
From poster to sequence
I used the poster as the starting point for the sequence. Its elements were separated into individual layers, then rearranged and animated while preserving the poster's texture and muted colors.
Scale and spectacle
Shifting views of the monumental letterforms echo the characters' attempts to locate and film the creature in the sky. The camera lens frames that pursuit as spectacle, while the bunting flags represent their attempt to tame what they cannot control. Throughout the sequence, the human figure appears small against the monumental letterforms, until he finally falls beneath them. This movement from observation to surrender reflects humanity's desire to control forces of nature far greater than itself.
